內容摘要:
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the role of statistical learning in language acquisition. Research in the past 10 to 15 years have shown that young infants, children, and adults are capable of exploiting statistical information to detect phonotactic structures, to locate word
boundaries in running speech, to learn word sequences, to form syntactic categories, to track long-distance dependencies, and to build abstract representations of sequential patterns. The robustness of the statistical learning abilities was often demonstrated by successful learning after only a brief exposure to the language. In this talk, I will focus on statistical learning of language by 1) reviewing  recent findings along this line of research; 2) discussing controversies and debates concerning statistical language learning; 3) discussing evidence in support of or against the statistical learning approach to language acquisition. I will draw evidence from both typically-developing individuals and individuals with language impairment and discuss how data from both typical and atypical individuals  can provide us a basis to further evaluate the statistical learning approach to language acquisition.
